The HERE’S TO SUNNY Collection
I was at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont (Feb to May 1997) in the height of winter. I sure missed the sun. Thus, I created this collection as a tribute to Mr. Sunny himself. In the Philippines, the sun shines all year long and chances are we tend to take the many wonders of tropical life for granted.
Here’s to Sunny is a collection of mixed media paintings and wooden sculptures made of found shapes from the VSC woodshop. Part of the collection was shown in May 1997 at the Red Mill Gallery at the VSC and was entitled "Tropical Flavors". The complete collection was brought to New York and was shown as part of the centennial celebrations presented by the Philippine Centennial Coordinating Council of Northeast USA in June 1997.
